silence is deafening

The house is still and the noises we hear are Colby's nails clicking on the ktichen floor and acorns dropping from the live oak trees onto the roof and rolling to the eaves. Just yesterday, the house was filled to the brim with talking and laughter and some crying as our kids visited along with three dear grandchildren ages 2 & 3/4 yrs, 14 months and 9
months. Having everyone here all at the same time doesn't happen very often but when it does it is bliss.

Both families have returned home, but I am thankful for our time together. The four kids cooked the meals and then cleaned everything up afterward. We simply got to play with the children!

There was of course the train layout in the garage, the riding toys on the patio, books and more books everywhere. Colby stayed close by wherever the cherubs were eating "just in case something might land on the floor." Kyle seemed to think that Colby needed a bone everytime he came into the house.
He was a great help at filling the water bowl and pouring the dog food into the bowl. We made play dough and then played with it on the patio until Colby ate some and Kyle decided that Bailey might eat the rest. Anna Grace toddled around repeating phrases she heard - she has "touch down!" (with the motions) mastered. And Wade just smiled at everyone.

It is a weekend like this that makes one appreciate the joy of being a parent and grandparent!
